Good Morning!

I hope my email finds you well. Happy New Year!

I'm sure, because random people come across your blog about asians in East Africa (Kenya), you must get emails from all over the world enquiring about their familiy's history.. as my email also is!

My father & mother's families moved from Mombasa & Ramisi respectively, to Nairobi.
I was born in 1960, & was baptised by Fr Joseph Whelan (Wheelan), who married my parents at St Teresa's church in Nairobi, in 1957. Two of my siblings were baptised by Fr Whelan. Not sure which priest baptised my youngest sister, who was born in April 1970.

After a lifetime of stories from my late Dad & his siblings, I grew curious to find out the history of Fr Joe Whelan parish priest of St Teresa's church Eastleigh Naurobi and also of Mother Gertrude (Holy Family Parochial school) in Nairobi city centre.

The majority of our family emigrated  to the UK, USA Canada in the mid 1970s..Over the years so many stories were told about their school days, particularly about how strict Mother Gertrude was, and also about Fr Whelan, in later years.

I wonder if you would be kind enough to fill the gaps for me.

I look forward to your response.

God bless.

Debbie
