DEATH OF ONE OF THE GREAT GUYS IN KENYA: MICHAEL GONTIER

I am trying hard to try and get a photo of the wonderful late Michael Gontier
instead here is the queen of rock n role Myra Gontier dancing with the king of jive Roland Rebello.
If anyone has a photo of Michael please send it to me.

Rest in Eternal Peace, Michael Gontier.

A memorial by his son Ian Gontier

The hardest part of being the oldest sibling falls to me today.

My hands shake as I write this short note to tell you with the greatest sadness of the death of our beloved father Michael F.W. Gontier. He passed away in his sleep in the early hours of the morning on February 26 2025 at my sister’s home in Carrieres sur Seine, France, surrounded by his family (just shy of his 95th birthday)

He always stood beside his family, his brothers (Eddie and Cedric) and sister through so many challenges and difficult times that we all face sometime in our lives, but always as dedicated as he was to achieve his ultimate goal == never grumbled, complained or even uttered a single word of discontent.

He dedicated over 30 years of his early life as a civil servant to the Kenya Government before taking early retirement and then moved on to working for an embassy in Muthaiga before fully retiring from CHIEA/CUEA (Catholic University Langata).

Our dad left a modest family of three great-grand children, unfortunately never to have me his last GG Romeo.

Son Ian & Ancheree (W) + Martin, Verity, Leo & Reilly. Joshua and Romeo.

Daughter Michelle and Romeo and Alok (H) +Tara and Alysha.

Daughter Miriam and  Alok (I Cyprian met Michael in Australia when he visited Miriam and Alok),

Daughter Michelle and Damian (H)

Anglique, Venance, Abigail and Pacome

Last but not least I have to state that Dad’s long and happy life was mainly to the dedicated love and nursing he received from Michelle our unsung hero who cherished and nursed him over the 14 years of his life in Paris.

His memorial/requiem mass was held on March 1 2025 at St Jean Baptiste Church Carrieres sur Seine.

Please remember him in your prayers and remember the times you share together.

We pray that he now Rests in Peace and his beloved late wife Myra (the queen of Rock N Roll) in Heaven.

Rest in Heaven Peace Dad, we miss and love you loads,

GOD BLESS.

Please don’t think I am or have been ignoring you – quite the opposite hard to spill it out with diminishing gufu (strength). Wish they could establish what is causing the chronic bleeding in my brain region. I want to sing again and write so much however gufu na shindwa mimi (lack strength is hampering me. Please thank everyone for their prayers and for enriching my life. I was the dunce in the family: My brothers Rev Joseph SJ and the late Wilfrid are my heroes. I owe them so much, also my darling Elsie and each of my loving children, including Conrad who suffered so much during his short life. Our faith kept us going during those painful days in Marsab...
