Alex de Figueiredo: the only Fr Hannon victim who sought compensation from the Vatican in vain!

 Hi Cyprian,

Hope you are well.
(Alex was Fr Hannon's only victim to fight for compensation from the Vatican.
Allex was brave enough to go public about Hannan's abuse of young boys in his charge. All his other victims (at those that I knew of) have gone to their Maker.

Thanks for asking. I got nothing from them, not even an apology.
The Catholic Church is racist.  Every Irish child abused by the Catholic Church was paid 250,000 euros in compensation.  For children in third-world countries, the Church paid nothing because they knew it would not be investigated.

Sultan and I compiled a summary of the action I took. We sent it to various Catholic administration offices, such as the archbishop in the USA and the Vatican, with no response.

My sister, who is a nun in Dublin, even went to the Irish police to see what could be done once all hell broke loose when it was discovered that several Irish boys who went to the esteemed Black Rock College were abused.  The victims now hold important positions in Ireland. The Irish police said there is nothing they can do.

As Kenya was a British colony, I believe that the British Government, which was in charge of Education in Kenya, should also bear some responsibility for not checking more closely. I can remember one education inspector coming to our school once in all the years I was at St. Teresa's.

Fortunately, I am very well off because of my investments and have much more money than I will ever spend. I do not need their compensation but want it so that I can donate it all to a charity of my choice.

I am now 80 years old, and I don't expect to see justice in my lifetime.

Keep well,

Alex
(Stay safe rafiki)
