The Ark
When Governor Sir Patrick Renison opened the Secret Valley
Lodge on 7 August 1961, it was decided to release a rhino brought in a crate by Mr Carr-Hartley as part of the ceremony. When the Governor opened the crate
door the rhino refused to run off into the bush as expected. Sir Patrick, Major
Grimwood, Air Commodore Howard-Williams, Mr Carr-Hartley and Mr Shamsu Din were
marooned for some time. (Sorry about the quality of the picture.)
