John Christie D'Souza

Most of the historical stories on the GI Nairobi, the Goans of the time in Kenya and other related issues are the work of J. Christie D'Souza"

'John Christie D'Souza, popularly known as "Christie" was born in Goa, educated in St.Patrick's High School, Karachi and St. Xavier's College, Bombay.   He came to East Africa in 1927 and ever since was employed in the Public Works Department.   He is a past President of Goan Institute and vice-President of the Kenya Asian Civil Service Association.  He is a founder member and vice-President of the Kenya Amateur Athletic Association and a founder member of the Kenya Goan Sports Association.   He was also Chairman of the Education Committee of the Dr. Ribeiro Goan School.  Christie has taken a keen interest in the Institute's activities and has been solely responsible for compiling the 1955 GI Golden Jubilee Souvenir Brochure and recording the efforts our gallant Goan pioneers for posterity.'
