Mario Dias was the jazz drummer for The Dorothy Chambers
Quartet for many years. They used to perform regularly at the Ambassador
Hotel Grill Room in Nairobi. The other members were: Auggie Alvares, Olav
Vaz and Mel Dias (no relation). Reggie Dias, who played the double bass,
jammed with them on a number of occasions. Mario’s daughter Ligia (also a very
talented musician) is married musician Jimmy Van Rosi.
